Barry was born and raised in Pekin, Illinois and came to faith in Christ as a child. He graduated from Illinois State University, where he met Cathy. They married in 1981 at the Arlington Heights Evangelical Free Church (now The Orchard). Barry and Cathy have three daughters and three grandchildren.
Barry retired in 2021 from the oncology division of a small biotech company, and he currently serves at The Orchard as a Men’s LIFE Group leader and as a Men’s LIFE Group coach. He is also a member of the Worship Team at The Orchard Barrington.
Previous ministry experience includes developing evangelism and discipleship training workshops, running conferences, and leading the small group ministry of a local church. In addition, in their long association with The Navigators, Barry and Cathy have served in collegiate and community ministries, and as a missionary family in St. Petersburg, Russia. Barry and Cathy have been members of The Orchard since 2014.
