Pete grew up in the Philadelphia area and attended the Latvian Baptist Church with his family. In 1970 he visited the Latvian Baptist Church in NYC where he came under the conviction of sin and his need of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. He was baptized later that year. Pete met his wife, Sarma, through the Latvian Baptist Churches in America. They were married in Oak Park in 1984 and moved to the Chicago area a few years after that. Pete and Sarma began attending The Orchard in 1997 and became members in 2008. The years at The Orchard with the focused study and application of the truth of God’s Word have been a time of growth and increased zeal for following and serving Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. Pete serves at the Welcome Desk and leads a LIFE Group with Sarma. He also co-leads a men’s LIFE Group and is currently concluding his term as Church Vice-Chairman. Pete previously served as the Executive Director of The Orchard Network, equipping leaders for churches. He is a graduate of both LEVERAGE and MOMENTUM, two training offerings of Open the Bible. Pete is grateful for opportunities to serve at The Orchard. Pete and Sarma are part of the Arlington Heights congregation.
